POSITION SUMMARY:

The Prep Cook's primary responsibility is to prepare and cook food at all kitchen stations. Perform all duties in accordance with departmental and property policies, practices, and procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Prepare items according to the recipe
• Ensure food quality 
• Set up the station and breakdown station
• Prepare food items on time
• Assist co-workers throughout the shift
• Ensure all products are rotating on a first-in, first-out philosophy.
• Ensure all requisitions are processed properly and placed in the designated area.
• Identify and safely use all kitchen equipment.
• Regularly restock all kitchen supplies and food items required for service.
• Properly label and date all products to ensure safekeeping and sanitation.
• Read, measure, and execute recipes.
• Maintain solid menu knowledge and attention to detail with plate presentation.
• Versatile in preparing both hot and cold items.
• Assist co-workers in the execution of service.
• Maintain a solid knowledge, understanding, and preparation of base sauces, stocks, and soups.
• Work as a team, assisting all guests’ and employees’ needs and inquiries.
• Effectively communicate with management, chefs, and service staff to fulfill and address any issues or needs requested by guests and/or other employees.
• Perform all other job-related duties as requested

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

• At least 1 year of experience in a high-volume/fine dining restaurant.
• Ability to take initiative and exhibit flexibility.
• Ability to apply basic knife skills.
• A highly motivated and energetic personality.
• Working knowledge of all food products and can skillfully apply culinary techniques.
• Working knowledge, understanding, and application of various cooking techniques.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts.
• Professional appearance and demeanor.
• Work varied shifts, including weekends and holidays.
• Able to effectively communicate in English, in both written and oral forms.

PREFFERED QUALIFICATIONS:

• High School diploma or equivalent.
• Previous experience working in a similar resort setting.

LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:

• Health Card

• Hot Area
• Stand for long periods of time

WORK SCHEDULE/HOURS:

• Varies 
• Works in various kitchens per business

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Must have the physical ability to access all areas of the facility; move, lift, carry, push, pull, and place objects; withstand prolonged standing, stretching, bending, kneeling, lifting, and carrying items weighing at least 50 lbs. without restriction.
• Reach overhead and below the knees, including bending, twisting, pulling, and stooping.
• Physical stamina and proper mental attitude to work under pressure; work indoors and outdoors, as well as being exposed to hot/cold surfaces, steam, and wet floors.
• Most work tasks are performed indoors; however, there are events where outdoor activities are required. Indoor temperatures are moderate and controlled by internal environmental systems.
• Must be able to work in a fast-paced, busy, and noisy environment.
